WP1 - Design of new tread pattern (for reduced rolling resistance)
The main objective of WP1 is to design new tread patterns for both steer and trailer tyres to improve their rolling resistance. Developments on tread patterns are necessary to improve rolling resistance of both steer and trailer tyres by at least maintaining other fundamental tyre properties. Results from WP1 must demonstrate a gain of 10% in tyre wear reduction and a gain of 13% in tyre rolling resistance for tread pattern. Technologies from WP1 will be applied on different tyre sizes to have a broader impact on overall truck RR. Thanks to novelties developed in WP2, an overall gain of 20% in truck RR will be demonstrated in WP4.
